Product Recycling & Reuse
Whether the residual product in a cylinder or drum is reusable is dependent on a number of key factors:
- What is the value of the product?
- What is the cost for disposal of the product?
- How much residual product is available?
- What is the cost of processing?
For example air gases like Nitrogen and Oxygen are unlikely to be processed cost effectively.
However, significant quantities of products with either a high value or high disposal cost (or both) may be processed/purified cost effectively.
Several methods are available, dependent on the product purity required, type and level of contamination.
- Adsorption - onto media such as molecular sieve, alumina or carbon
- Distillation - batch or continuous
- Membrane
